WHAT IS A FREEMASON

The answer to this question takes us back through history when men built the great Gothic cathedrals and other building out of fine grained sandstone or limestone (which by reason of its adaptability was called “Freestone”). The workers were then known as “Freestone Masons” and this was eventually changed to “Freemason”.

Additionally, a requirement for entrance into the craft was the candidate to be a man, neither a bondsman nor the son of a bondwoman. This meant freedom to travel and work without limitation. That naturally would lead to freedom of mind and spirit.

Freedom of thought and expression is one of our most prized possessions. There are external truths which we may contemplate. Yet no two men think exactly alike. No two minds grasp an idea with identical results. Thus, we cherish our beliefs and give our Fellow-man the right to his beliefs.

From:    Worshipful Master

Greetings to All Past Masters, Wardens and Brethern,

In the presence of all mighty God, I, William E Tiller III do hereby solemnly and sincerely promise and swear to uphold all duties bestowed upon me by being elected as your Worshipful Master of Stanley Y. Beverley Lodge #108.

I further promise and swear that I will do my very best to carry on the torch of tradition and build upon the foundation laid down by all the men who have sacrificed to make Prince Hall Free Masonry what it is to date.

Acting under the will and blessing of the great architect of the universe I will work to promote the growth of brotherly love and truth throughout our community.

In closing I would like to thank everyone I have ever come in contact with; because every contact made whether good or bad have helped make me who and what I am today. Let all the glory go to God and all the mistakes be mine to learn from.
.

Fraternally
William Tiller III.

I SEE YOU’VE TRAVELED SOME

"In Memory of  PM John Robinson, Jr.
during the Raising of a New Master Mason!"

Wherever you may chance to be
Wherever you may roam,
Far away in foreign lands;
Or just at Home Sweet Home;
It always gives you pleasure,
It makes your heart strings hum
Just to hear the words of cheer,
“I see you’ve traveled some.”

When you get a brother’s greeting,
And he takes you by the hand,
It thrills you with a feeling
That you cannot understand,
You feel that bond of brotherhood
That tie that’s sure to come
When you hear him say in a friendly way
“I see you’ve traveled some.”

And if you are a stranger,
In strange lands all alone
If fate has left you stranded
Dead broke and far from home,
It thrills you-makes you numb,
When he says with a grip of fellowship,
“I see you’ve traveled some.”

And when your final summons comes
To take a last long trip,
Adorned with Lambskins Apron White
And gems of fellowship
The tiler at the Golden Gate,
With square and rule and plumb
Will size up your pin and say “Walk In”,
I see you’ve traveled some.”
